Felpham’s four best places to eat

When you’re on holiday in an area for the first time, have moved to a new county, or are simply looking to try something different to eat, picking the right restaurant or takeaway to feed the family can feel a bit like taking a stab in the dark.

Year on year, thousands of people flock to Butlins in Bognor Regis for their holidays, but, as we know, with even the very best holiday destinations, sometimes eating at the same places on the same resort can wear a little thin. So, when you fancy exploring a little further afield and checking out the best places to eat nearby, it’s a good idea to take a wander into Felpham village to see what it has to offer.

Here are a few favourite places to dine when you have moved to the lovely Felpham village, find yourself visiting friends nearby, are on holiday at Butlins, or simply taking in the surroundings of beautiful Bognor Regis. (And don’t just take it from us, their Trip Advisor reviews are spot on too!)

Lovely seaside fish and chips: Felpham Chippy

The Felpham Chippy on the main Felpham Road which goes through the village centre is well worth stopping by when you want mouth watering fish and chips created with passion.

From the special batter recipe which is kept as a closely guarded family secret, to the most delicious hand cut chips, friendly and happy staff and a multitude of dining choices that you wouldn’t find in a bog standard chippy (such as the halloumi kebabs), it’s definitely worth stopping by when you’re looking to feed the starving family and then take a stroll on the beach. Plus there’s the chance to eat in, or take away, too.

Cafe on the beach with delicious food: The Lobster Pot

It’s easy to see why visitors queue out of the door to eat at The Lobster Pot in Felpham, because the food is extensive, absolutely lovely and the views, when sitting outside directly on the beach, are spectacular.

The cafe is just a short stroll along the beach from Butlins (turn left when you hit the sea and walk along the front), and it is one of the most popular cafes in Bognor Regis. Possibly because the standard of the food is definitely more restaurant than cafe.

Fine Italian dining: Fino

Take the family here for a restaurant treat and you absolutely won’t be disappointed. The food is lovingly prepared by one of the most sought after chefs in the local area and it never fails to disappoint.

Not long open, after it took over from the former China Inn, Fino has been beautifully renovated and refurbished, by an Italian family who clearly have an eye for what makes a lovely dining experience. On top of that, you have some lovely decor to enjoy with friendly, welcoming staff (and it has its very own cocktail bar, if you’re looking for some pre-dinner drinks). There are special offers to make the most of too, such as 20% off for earlybirds, who dine before 7pm.

Smashing pub grub: The Fox Inn, Felpham

The food at The Fox is definitely a step up from the standard pub grub that you might expect. With an extensive menu, pleasant surroundings and regular specials, it’s a great choice for people looking for a local pub, with nice food and a friendly atmosphere. Plus, it’s a stone’s throw from the beach – and next door to where the acclaimed poet William Blake was living when he wrote the first line of the world famous “Jerusalem”.
