Any shopaholics out there will know it’s always exciting to visit somewhere that is different from all the other town centres up and down the UK.
Here we’re talking home to unique curiosity shops, gorgeous boutiques and tempting shop windows which tease you in with the promise of delights that lie in wait through the front door.
The best of British seaside resorts have always offered something unusual and interesting to discover that makes them extra special and when it comes to Bognor Regis shops it’s no exception.
Our town is full of independent businesses, gorgeous boutiques and places to shop that you won’t find anywhere else. Here are five of our favourites…
Grandad’s Front Room
As well as offering a whole host of unusual and diverse items for sale, Grandad’s Front Room prides itself on being a hub for the local community which brings people together, supports local charity and encourages a drive to change the area for the better.
Everything they sell goes back into the community, visitors can enjoy tea and custard creams for only 20p and around the shop there are many items with a smiley face, which means you only put in the box what you can honestly afford. If that is nothing, you pay nothing.
This wonderful enterprise helps families get back on their feet, providing them with white goods, furniture and all sorts of other products that are needed in the home.
Grandad always lends a listening ear and the shop is set up exactly like your grandparents’ front room might look, with sofas to sit, chill in and catch up with friends. It has a lovely ethos about it and the staff very clearly care about supporting others and making a real difference, which is testament to the happy nature of this south coast seaside town.
The Gooseberry Bush
Here you’ll find the largest independent retailer in Bognor Regis of baby goods including pushchairs, prams, cots, car seats and all other nursery and baby related products.
The shop owners pride themselves on fostering a good relationship with their valued customers and offering a caring after sales service as well as free local delivery with prams and cots assembled at no extra charge.
It’s a great place to take a browse for any parents to be or family members with a new addition on the way.
The Sweet Jar
Close to the beautiful Bognor Regis beach, this is a delicious haven for the sweet toothed among us. As well as providing a whole host of different flavours of ice cream for warm spring and summer days, it also gives visitors the chance to take a trip down Memory Lane, with a wide range of popular sweets from many years ago.
The Sweet Jar stocks a large selection of over 250 types of sweets, weighed out straight from the jar in the best traditional fashion and treats include bonbons, sherbet lemons, cola cubes, rhubarb and custard, sherbet pips, cola bottles and chewing nuts all lined up along the walls in their jars.
Polka Dot Stripes
Spread out over two floors, Polkadot Stripes is a beautifully designed independent shop which sells gifts, cards and jewellery as well as furniture, lighting, art, kitchenware and fine home accessories.
The range is ever changing, which means there’s always something new and exciting to see and there is also a purchase for every budget, from kids looking to spend their pocket money to adults wanting a unique piece of furniture to add to their home.
Boutique Roma is a family run independent ladies fashion business based in the arcade, Bognor Regis. They have dresses and outfits for everything from weddings, proms and christenings to party wear and office clothing.
As well as catering for a whole range of sizes from 6- 24 they also offer a free alteration service.
The unique range of clothing has been chosen from across Europe and brings something different for anyone looking for a change from the traditional High Street staples.
