There has been a great deal of coverage in the news recently about the waste problems that are polluting our planet. Plastic pollution is one of the more worrying issues, especially regarding what it is doing to our beaches and oceans. According to reports, every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our waters, 5,000 items of marine plastic pollution have been found per mile of beach in the UK and over 150 plastic bottles litter each mile of UK beaches.
So, with 79% of all plastic ever created still existing in our environment, what can be done to help fight the problem and keep our beaches beautiful? Bognorians are hugely proud of their coastline, and, like thousands of people across coastal West Sussex, are passionate about keeping the prize-winning beaches clean from waste and protecting local wildlife.
There are some amazing voluntary groups that organise regular beach cleans. So if you are visiting Bognor Regis and fancy some environmental action while you’re here, this is a great group to reach out to:

If we all do what we can, we can keep this part of the world pristine for future generations.
