BOGNOR REGIS STATION

Bognor Regis Railway Station, opened on 8 June 1846 by the Brighton and Chichester Railway, later became part of the London Brighton and South Coast Railway. It significantly boosted the town’s development as a seaside resort but faced partial destruction twice –first by a gale in 1897 and then by fire in 1899.

The current station buildings, designed by company architect C.D. Collins, were constructed in 1902 at a cost of £68,000, the equivalent of over £7 million in 2024. This investment paid off, with the station achieving Grade II Listed building status in 1994 as a complete example of An Edwardian Seaside Terminus.
