We’ve known for a long time that Bognor Regis is one of the best and most iconic seaside resorts in the UK. Where else can boast being the place in the whole of the country which gets the most sunshine? Where else can say that royalty of the last century hailed it as THE place to come to relax and convalesce?
Placed gloriously between the South Downs National Park and a beautiful stretch of coastline, it’s easy to see why our seaside town is so loved. After the visits by King George V, tourists flocked to the area and in the 1960s Bognor Regis was placed even more firmly on the map, with the opening of Butlins.
But that’s not where the story ends. Recent developments of the last few years have made us feel that Bognor Regis really is the place to take the kids and the rest of the family for a great day out!
Fact is, local children are choosing more and more to hold their birthday parties in and around the town. Why? Because there’s just so much to enjoy, all in one place. So, what are our family favourites?
Bird’s eye view of Bognor
Butlin’s now isn’t the only thing to help you pick out the Bognor Regis coastline from the sky. August 2021 saw the opening of our very own 33m high observation wheel!
Perfect for all ages, it offers amazing views of the coastline and the leisurely pace which it goes at not only means more time to enjoy the views, but it’s perfect for people of all ages, including young children.
Sweet toothed treats
If you fancy taking the children for a fabulous treat, just a stone’s throw from the observation wheel is not only the amusements, but the out of this world Pinks Parlour which offers a vast range of homemade ice cream, freshly made on the premises in their very own ice cream lab.
Pinks use only the finest ingredients and follow traditional Italian methods for making their gelato, with a sprinkling of some creative flair added in! And if you’re looking to hold a child’s birthday party in Bognor Regis that’s somewhere a bit different, the parlour welcomes groups of up to ten into the ice cream lab where they can all try their hand at ice cream making (with plenty of treats to take home afterwards). Visitors to the town can also spot Pinks out and about in their vintage ice cream vans.
After you and the family have filled yourself full of wonderful ice cream, how about a spot of crazy golf to burn it off? Bognor Regis Crazy Golf in Waterloo Square is massively popular among tourists and Bognor Regis based families alike. While it holds on to the traditional and iconic feel of seaside crazy golf, the course is fantastically well kept and comes with all sorts of challenges and hazards as you move around the 18 holes, making it perfect for a family tournament.
If you’re a big fan of crazy golf, it’s also worth popping by Wildforest Falls 18-Hole Adventure Golf at Hotham Park, which is a few steps away from Butlins. Here you will find a number of bears, wolves, stags and wild boars, a beaver dam complete with waterfall and fallen log putt-through; tree stump vortex and ‘Hotham Clock Tower’ putt-through.
While you’re at Hotham Park, take in the rest of the great things which go on there, such as the live events, boating lake, play parks, mini railway and of course the delicious Hotham Park Cafe.
It wouldn’t be a post about all the amazing things to do in Bognor Regis if we didn’t mention the beautiful beach, so, if you haven’t been to check it out yet, what are you waiting for!
From the wildlife to the water sports, big events along the promenade to the iconic pier, cafes and bars, as you take a stroll along from Aldwick in the west to Felpham on the east side of Bognor, you will never be short of things to see and do.
So, even if you’re lucky enough to live near Bognor Regis, make sure you take a trip into town with the family every once in a while, because it’s well worth a visit!
